Veggie Update this week

Veggie Update

Probably the last week of wild garlic leaves, as it is flowering and starting to seed now, so dont miss out on this - it has been very popular this year, especially the wild garlic walnut pesto bundles.

But we do have the first garlic bulbs coming ready now - as much tail as bulb, and luscious green in colour (they are typically known as wet or green garlic), they are fresher and milder than mature garlic and lovely sliced up and used instead of garlic cloves. And you should use the whole bulb and stem - like you would a spring onion.

Three new tomatoes in this week: Mixed organic heirloom, golden mini plum & classic vine, all from the Isle of Wight still.

Jersey Royals are now reliably coming through, after a crop gap between the covered and outdoor crops caused by the cool temperatures.

Also affected by this current spring chill is our asparagus! The season traditionally runs from St George's Day to the Summer Solstice (23/4 - 21/6), but this year we are running late late late - hopefully next week. Should we satisfy your desires and import from Spain, until ours begins? Let us know in our poll on the website homepage.
