Veg news: Brussel Sprouts, Final Peppers, & Mistletoe

06 December 2017

A wintry chill is set to descend on on the country from this Friday - perfect timing for you as your veggies will be picked today and tomorrow.

We have the first organic sprouts in this week from Ripple Farm, Kent - their sugar levels are now good (as for parsnips and other root veg) after last week's chill, then helps to convert the starch to sugar - they are coming up to their peak now for Christmas.

All the apples are in excellent condition - the Cox's, Red Pippin & Spartan are great varieties - they are lovely grated up with celeriac into a remoulade - a really nice way to keep a root veg nutritious, raw and fresh!

Tangentally, our range of apple juices from Ringden Farm are now made using this year's apples, freshly picked and juiced, no sugar added - all natural sweetness!

We do also have some Romano Peppers left, so please don't miss out on these (bell peppers are finished).

Ansi has been out collecting mistletoe branches from their apple orchard in Tolleshunt D'Arcy - so they are now available to hang as you want.
