A new supplier of Kentish Free range duck eggs...

20 February 2018

We have a new producer of lovely Kentish mixed colour duck eggs!

Tim Smith is a 15 year old schoolboy  who lives with his parents at Nether Hale Farm, Birchington, Kent (near Margate).

With a little bit of help from Mum & Dad, he has produced his own free range  laying Flock of Ducks, comprising Khaki Campbell, Aylesbury and Indian Runner. They currently have 170 ducks in lay with another 100 due to start shortly, laying Blue and White eggs

Tim started his interest in duck thanks to a friend who produces Duck eggs about 7 years ago. His Dad bought him two Aylesburies and One Drake and three duck KhakiCampbells - the eggs produced were sold through a local farm shop. The income paid for their food and allowed for a collection of ornamental and Call ducks to be started.

These have been incubated and reared and pairs of Duck are also sold

This photo was taken about four years ago with one of his call duck. He has reinvested the income to build the flock, and as the local demand has increased he has bred more young layers to increase the flock.

He has built a shed so they can be house overnight and enabling nearly year round production

They have access to an acre of Grass all day , ad lib food and water to drink and wash in.
