Fruit & Veg this week - Sweetcorn, Discovery Apples & Figs

Another pleasant week of sunshine and showers, neither too hot, nor too cold (goldilocks conditions if you like). The veggies love it and it is straightforward to work in as well.

So we have the first figs in this week from the Lea Valley, just a few miles north of us in Tottenham. They will be picked Friday mornings, and so will be as perfect and fresh as they could be.

And we have the first eating apples of the new season starting this week - the Discovery - they are also a good cooker. . For the first time in years, we do still have the last of last year's bramleys available, but please dont think they are new season.

And finally on veg, we also have the first of our Essex grown sweetcorn in this week - always very popular!

If you fancy something different , we have a few punnets of cucamelons, like tiny cucumbers with a hint of sour lime flavour - they are excellent pickled and added to salads. But be quick, they are limited.
