How sustainable is our Ray Wing?

16 February 2011
At farm-direct we always work to ensure that our products come from sustainable sources.
This week we've been chatting to our fisherman Dylan about one of his most sought after catches.... Ray.

Dylan catches five types of Ray that inhabit the Cornish coast. These are Thornback, Cuckoo, Spotted, Small Eye or Blonde.
With all of these species in plentiful supply, Dylan has a monthly quota of 20 tonnes (compared to a monthly Cod quota of just 200kg!).

Ray should not be confused with Skate as many Skate species are threatened and in decline. Try and avoid White,
Common, Norwegian and Undulate Skate to rest assured you are doing your bit to maintain harmony in our seas.
