This is driven by politics, rather than anything so seedy as trying to acquire customers young. House and rent prices have risen way beyond inflation in the last 20 years, and yet successive governments still pander shamelessly to the grey vote, supporting unsustainable triple lock pensions in the full knowledge that the next generation fund them. Unsurprising slowing birth rates will only exacerbate this situation in the decades ahead - we need to change course.
