Make your own mincemeat for Winter - rewarding & nourishing

30 September 2020

Who knows where we will be at Christmas, but if you want to do something simple, frugal & rewarding, then making your own mincemeat will tick all these boxes! And we could surely alll do with a bit of that in these topsy turvy times.

It is simply a matter of combining half a dozen ingredients, so doesn't really count as cooking (just Apple, Lemon, Suet, Mixed Peel, Currants, Raisins, Sugar, Brandy). You can customise it as you want, varying the fruit or the liqueur, and the longer you leave it, the better it is (ie it would be fine for Christmas 2021, even 2022).

It's the kind of thing NIgella will have in her larder, and who wouldn't want to join that kind of club?!

If you want a Recipe bag, We offer a veggie version, or a traditional  - the only difference being the type of suet you use, which binds it together)
