We have the first partridge in this week - which we are offering whole (395 each, or 2 for £7) - they are wholly different to the dark-fleshed meat of woodpigeon or grouse, with a much lighter flesh and lighter flavour, and a pair of them roasted makes for a really lovely "date night

Top tip when cooking these little birds is to either cover their breasts in either foil, bacon or butter in order to keep them moist.
If you feel that whole birds is not your thing, then we have some lovely packs of partridge breast fillets - ideal for pan-frying, or stir-fries: a very tasty alternative to chicken.
Whisper it quietly, but we should have the first rabbits in this week - this in spite of the miserable weather which usually means they become elusive. But they should be here for the weekend.
