Today is a good day - the EU have voted to
restrict the use of neonicotinoid pesticides as a precaution against the possiblity that they are responsible for declining bee populations.
The reasons behind the decline in bee populations are not clear, though bees importance in the pollination of plants and crops is undisputed. It is surely right that pre-emptive action is taken to ensure that bee populations are given every chance to recover.
In our humble view, the refusal of the British government to vote otherwise is shameful - as eloquenty argued (by others)
here.
As a mini celebration, we have knocked the price of our Graham Johnson's Essex
runny &
set honey down to 389p for a 454g pot - not a great discount, we would be the first to concede, but frankly, it is such blindingly good value in the first place, what more do you want!
