Winter warmers: Braised Faggots & Cured Hocks

04 February 2015

Specials this week: fresh faggots & cured hocks

Our seasonal supper for the next fortnight is Cured Ham Hock with Lentils and Black Kale, for just 399p.

It's a lovely dish at this time of year - and one that you can play around with too - adding anything in that you fancy.  Mustard and cream are always good additions, but when I prepared it last night, the kids delighted in adding in Tzatziki - I frowned and pretended to disapprove, but it gave the dish a lovely freshness...!

And it is also really good value - our seasonal supper is usually designed for 2, but hocks yield a good 400g of meat, and when added to a pack of lentils will easily feed 4-5 people - which for 399p, is very good value.

Now that winter is properly here, it is time to bring back Faggots - just 149p for a pair. Whilst you can just try them in the pan, the best thing to do is to enjoy them braised, in some lovely onion gravy - another lovely warming dinner!
