The first of the forced rhubarb is in this week, from our producer, Oldroyds in Yorkshire.

Forced rhubarb is grown in sheds, mainly around Yorkshire, where the combination of water, cold and nitrogen (originally decomposing shoddy from the cotton mills) makes for the perfect condition to enjoy this winter rhubarb that is generally considered much superior to the outdoor variety taht we enjoy later in the year.

Our rhubarb crumble bundle comes with the cunning ingredient of a pair of cardomon seeds, that you should crush and add to the simmering rhubarb / bramley mix - it elicits a delicious scented flavour.
