Veggie Update
Last week's sudden hot spell has given us some happy surprises this week.
First up we will have the first pick of Tiptree strawberries coming in on Friday - they are always excellent quality, and a real treat to have in the middle of May. They are 209p per punnet, or 2 for 399p, and this week we have are offering a punnet of strawbs & a pot of Hurdlebrook's Guernsey cream for just 329p - enjoy!
Our range of baby veggies from Colchester based grower, Neil Smith are now also ready - we are starting off with Carrots, Fennel, Turnips, Leeks & Golden Beetroot - they are delicate and delicous.
Our first choice asparagus is now ready - we had to resort to plan B last week, but this week's produce, from Tony Brew in Coggeshall will be much better.
Finally, we have the first unsprayed plum tomatoes in this week from Walmestone Growers - they are both delicious, and excellent value from £3.09 per kg. I was in a Little Waitrose last week and they were offering pallid, under-ripe portugese tomatoes at £9.83 / kg - more expensive than any tomatoes we offer!
