Purple Sprouting Broccoli - A Late Arrival

After what seems like an age, our purple sprouting broccoli is finally ready to harvest.
An overly cold and wet December foiled plans to include it in my Christmasmenu, but boy, it's worth the wait.
Unlike calabrese, purple sprouting broccoli grows in long thin shoots, headedby small purple florets . It's tender and sweet, you can steam and dress is (ittakes a vinaigrette beautifully), add it to a stir-fry, toss it in pasta oreven bake it into a quiche or pie.
