Fresh in from Orchard Farm we are excited to have some wonderful wet walnuts from their old walnut orchard.
Wet walnuts are a true seasonal treat, available for just a few weeks each autumn. They are dry on the outside but ‘wet’ and juicy inside in their fresh picked state and their flavour is mild, milky and sweet. They are lovely to be eaten as a treat to nibble on, but you could always try crumbling them on top of a nice apple crumble for a little extra bite!
Wet walnuts also work well when baking because they retain some of the creaminess that is lost when you use drier, older nuts. Try a traditional coffee and walnut cake, delicious! You can buy you Wet Walnuts here
