Producer Of The Week- Kernow Sashimi

In the news this week it’s come to light that supermarket fish can be up to three weeks old! Well that is certainly not the case at Farm Direct. Our fish suppliers at Kernow Sashimi are out on their day boats every Wednesday & Thursday, landing fish that is delivered to us on Friday mornings.

Fundamentally the most important message we want to pass on to our readers is that It's not what you catch it's the way that you catch it! At Kernow, they understand that gear type is far more important than species selection. Using only static gear and boats means that the catch may vary from week to week, but this is a good thing! Their sustainable fishing is unintrusive, fair and causes far less damage to the oceans.

Forget the supermarkets, fish doesn’t come much fresher than this! There is always a surprise in store for us when finding out what's been landed. For the past two weeks, fresh squid has been in great supply, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?
