Hi there, I am Carly the new marketing intern here at Farm Direct.
As the second week of my new internship here at Farm Direct begins, I can’t help thinking how fortunate I am to come across such a great opportunity like this one. I am an American student studying through Syracuse University here in London, and I am majoring in Food Studies.
I don’t quite know what I want to do with my degree yet, but now that I am exposed to the agricultural side of the industry via Farm Direct, I am certain that I am in the right field. Seeing how a small business is able to take locally grown produce and make it accessible to anyone who wants it throughout London is fascinating.
Everyone loves food, but I feel as though I am passionate about it. Not just the taste or the preparation, but the cultural, social, and political ideas and issues surrounding every bite we take.
At a place like Farm Direct, we are helping to sustain local businesses, in this case farms, and making sure whoever wants in, is getting their share. Even though I have only just started, I know my time over the next 14 weeks will be well worth it with Farm Direct.
Throughout these next weeks, I will be writing and sharing with you, the customers of Farm Direct about my food experiences as a New Yorker travelling around the UK and so on, as well as what I do here at Farm Direct and how the company works as a whole. Tune in next week for more!
