Whilst our rooty range of veg is either nearly gone (carrots) or really gone (squashes, swedes and turnips), we have a lovely range of new season veggies just starting.
Organic Asparagus and baby artichokes begin this week, from Cambridgeshire grower Clive Martin. The baby chokes are a delight because unlike the adult chokes they contain no "choke" - you just cut in half, season up, and grill / steam or pan-fry, and eat it all.
They are popular with chefs due to their floral nature, so consider this is your chance to impress in the comfort of your own kitchen and try something new this week.
We are also picking up with our new season baby veg growers Neal & Elaine Smith from Colchester, who have this week baby carrots, fennel, turnips & leeks - all bunched, all delicate, it is always a pleasure to start taking their produce, and the fennel will be in the boxes this week.
