Veggie update: too dry & too cold!

15 July 2015

We continue to have a pretty good range of veg for you this week - but a combination of a chilly spring, and not enough rain or sun in the right places means we have some gaps!

The good bits first: we have the first of Matthew's French Beans in this week, and the organic courgettes have started and so will be in the organic boxes this week.

And we have some lettuce (midi-sized cos, and big oak leaf lettuces) but we are missing our Big Organic Cos as well as our little red gem lettuces because of a lack of rain.

And we have a crop gap in fennel this week (due to a chilly end of May), and our Gill Wing Gherkins would normally have started by now but this current drop in temperature means they are not growing.

Peter at Gill Wing is four weeks behind where he was last year.

Whitecurrants and redcurrants are also on gap this week, we might have them back, but the yield is not looking as good as we hoped!
