This warmer weather is bringing on a flurry of new produce in - if you are trying to reduce your food miles and support local food production, then now is an appetising time to do it!
We have the first Calabrese Broccoli being picked today in Lincolnshire, and arriving with us tomorrow. It is the first brassica of the new season, and so really welcome.
And though it is too early have for squash - and we just have a few Crown Prince squash left from last season, we do have the first courgette flowers in Walmestone Nursery in Kent. They are lovely to stuff and fry.
And also new in we have the first Broad Beans in, also from Walmestone.
Allied to a range of different Asparagus, a variety of new season baby veg, and a good mix of overwintered green leaf, it makes for a pleasing range in this early summer warm spell.
Plus we have fresh Gazpacho soup made by Gavin of Purely Pesto - it is fantastic.
